NERIE University: Meghalaya-based North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) is part of 4 Regional Institutes of Education (RIE), set up as is a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). RIEs were set up in 1963 by Government of India, in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore and NERIE Shillong. RIEs aim at qualitative improvement of school education through innovative pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes and relevant research, development and extension activities.
